- the visa is issued for tourism, business or study (for example: courses of up to 6 months)
- applications for a visitor / tourist visa should be submitted at least 2-3 months before your planned trip
- the application is submitted online, but biometrics must be provided (in person only, with every visa application, at the visa centers in Bali, Jakarta and Surabaya)
- a tourist visa is issued for 6 months, 2, 5 or 10 years, multiple-entry. A shorter visa than requested may be granted (this applies to visas of more than 6 months) if UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) considers that the applicant does not meet the requirements
- for a first application, a multiple-entry visa for 6 months is issued. Later you can request longer visas, with convincing justification and documentary proof that a long-term entry permit is needed - you can then apply for a long-term visa
- the following are paid at the time of application: the consular fee for a standard 6-month visa of ~$170, including for a child, and the service fee (for applications in Bali or Surabaya) of ~$85, depending on the exchange rate on the day of payment, including for a child
- application processing time is 1 to 3 months, longer processing is also possible
- the main task is to provide convincing documentary proof of your financial independence and your need to return to your home country.

- the passport is kept while the visa application is being processed, but if you wish, you can order an additional service - submission without your passport for ~$127; the passport is provided to the same visa center to have the visa affixed after approval. Delivery can also be ordered for ~$11
The following documents are needed to apply for a visa to the United Kingdom:
If you hold dual citizenship or a residence permit in another country, documents confirming this (passport / resident card)
Scans of old passports, if they contain visas / trips (for the last 10 years).
KITAS (electronic version or photo)
Scan (in color, of all pages including stamps and visas) of your valid passport (valid for at least 6 months after your stay in the United Kingdom, with at least 1-3 blank pages).
Proof of income source:
Hotel booking or an informal invitation letter with the host's handwritten signature and contact details + the host's ID document (if invited by a relative, proof of kinship)
Proof of funds: a bank statement showing the account balance in English (balance of at least $5,000) and, separately, transactions for the last 3-6 months. Statements should preferably be generated from your online bank, in English.

- cover letter for freelancers / for self-employed: certificate of registration of an individual as a professional income taxpayer + certificate of the status of tax settlements (income) for professional income tax for 2022 and 2023
- if you are an entrepreneur in Russia, attach the certificate of state registration of an individual as a sole proprietor or the notice of registration of an individual with the tax authority, in English. You must also provide a statement of the balance of the sole proprietor's bank account in English and, separately, transactions for the last 6 months (the statement should preferably be generated from your online bank, in English)
- if you are an entrepreneur in Indonesia and have your own company, you need to provide company documents + a statement of the balance of the company's bank account and, separately, transactions for the last 6 months
- For school and university students: a certificate from the school or university
